Some good thoughts in this piece about Brienne and “unattractive” women.
“…because she’s an unattractive woman who has sexual desires.”
The part that especially interested me- this sort of thing is always played for jokes with a huge amount of discomfort. Brienne is not a joke.
THIS. And I think what makes those desires so important is that they’re inextricable with what she considers worthy. She values qualities in others that she herself possesses; she believes herself worthy of love and desire, no matter how much others tell her she’s not worthy of it, or her own occasional self-doubt. It’s why I love her character so much.
